There are 3 ways to MAKE a claim
AAMI has over 900 staff in Australia ready to help you when you call about your claim.
Visit OUR ASSESSMENT Centre
In areas covered by our assessment centres, we may allocate an expert to assess your car.
Our driveway assessment process allows you to have a dedicated date and time to have your car assessed while you wait. When you bring your car to an assessment centre for repair, we'll organise a complimentary taxi to take you from home or work.
AAMI has over 32 assessment centres around Australia, including 6 in regional areas. Wherever you may live AAMI is not far away.
If you have Comprehensive Car or Third Party Property Damage Car Insurance with AAMI, we'll provide you with these benefits:
From the day you check your car into our assessment centre, until your car is repaired, we will keep you informed every step of the way.
Within one working day of you leaving your car, we will call you with the name of the repairer as well as the estimated date your car will be ready.
We will pay your taxi fare home or back to work when you bring your car to our assessment centre, and when you collect your car.
If you have a hire car benefit under your policy, it may apply. Otherwise we can also arrange a hire car for you, at a special AAMI customer rate.
The right repairer for the right job
Our goal is to get you safely back on the road as soon as we can. Depending on the type of damage, your car will be repaired by a member of our trusted repairer network.
By a repairer directly – if you live in a regional area, we may authorise your repair to a local repairer directly.
By our assessment centre – if you live in an area serviced by one of our assessment centres (known as a RepairLink center), we may repair your car through our centre.
What is a TOTAL LOSS?
Sometimes cars are so badly damaged that they would not be safe, practical or economical to repair. If we believe this is the case, we will declare your car a total loss and pay you the amount covered or replace your car (depending on the age of your car and the cover you hold).
If your car is assessed as a ‘write-off’ and you are entitled to be paid the amount covered, we’ll send you a cheque payment or deposit it in your nominated bank account. Deductions may apply.
If your car is comprehensively insured with AAMI and we declare it a total loss because of damage or theft within the first 2 years of its original registration and you are the first registered owner, we will replace it with a new car and pay the on-road costs. If we cannot replace your car, we will pay the amount covered.
We have built a trusted panel of repairers across Australia. AAMI’s parent company, Suncorp Group, has also entered into joint venture partnerships to create two innovative, reliable repair companies; Capital S.M.A.R.T Repairs (SMART) and QPlus Production that are members of this panel. Our relationship with these companies, and our panel more generally, help us to efficiently manage the quality of the repairs, ensuring your car meets all safety and quality standards before it is promptly returned to you. Visit the Suncorp Group website for more information on the benefits these joint ventures provide.
AAMI has strict repair guidelines that all of our repairers must follow to be an approved AAMI repairer.
