Green Slip or Compulsory Third Party insurance protects vehicle owners and drivers
who are legally liable for personal injury to any other party in the event of a personal
injury claim made against you by other road users.
CTP Green Slip insurance does not cover damage to property or other vehicles
(see Third Party Property Damaged Car Insurance
for this type of insurance). CTP Green Slip insurance is compulsory and a condition of motor vehicle registration in NSW.

Recent Changes to Green Slip cover
On 1st October 2006, the NSW Government introduced the Lifetime Care and Support Scheme (LTCS).
LTCS applies to all Green Slips and provides cover to all children up to age 16 seriously injured in motor vehicle accidents regardless of who is at fault. It also provides for lifetime medical care and treatment for everyone catastrophically injured in a motor vehicle accident regardless of fault.
In addition to LTCS, from 1st April 2010, the CTP scheme has expanded so that anyone injured in a motor vehicle accident in NSW, regardless of who was at fault, may be able to access benefits. The change relates specifically to the Accident Notification Form (ANF) which provides for the early payment of reasonable and necessary medical expenses and/or lost earnings up to a maximum of $5,000.
For more information regarding recent changes to the CTP scheme, as well as LTCS, visit the Motor Accidents Authority website www.maa.nsw.gov.au.
