The VRC Melbourne Cup Carnival is widely regarded as one of the leading racing carnivals in the world. AAMI Victoria Derby Day, the first day of the four day carnival, is considered by many racing purists to be the best single day of thoroughbred racing in Australia, if not the world. West Australian Football League (WAFL)
AAMI became the major sponsor of the WAFL - Western Australia's premier Australian Rules football league - in 2010. The WAFL features a nine team competition and is considered the major feeder competition for the states elite footballers into the Australian Football League (AFL). A major leverage initiative attached to the sponsorship is the AAMI WAFL Player of the Week competition. Each week of the WAFL season, one player is adjudged by a panel as the AAMI WAFL Player of the Week, with AAMI providing $250 to the player along with a $250 grant to the players WA regional club of origin. This grant assists in development of football at grass roots level throughout WA. |
