AAMI Skilled Drivers (introduced 1982), a safe driving course for under-25 licensed drivers, available in most capital cities and free to people who hold an AAMI comprehensive car insurance policy in their own name or whose parents have this policy

AAMI lifetime repair guarantee (introduced 1992), which guarantees the quality of repairs for the life of the car even if the car is sold

Use of only genuine original equipment manufacture (OEM) parts in the repair of our customers' cars (1992)

AAMI valet service (introduced 1992), where AAMI looks after all repair arrangements, keeps the customer informed about the progress of their car's repairs and provides the customer with transport to and from an AAMI Customer Service Centre

AAMI lifetime rating one/maximum no claim bonus protection (introduced 1994), where the customer's rating/maximum no claim bonus status is protected for life, regardless of who was at fault in any claim

AAMI Customer Charter (introduced 1996), which provides claims service, access, reporting and performance promises that are supported by financial penalties in customers' favour. The process is independently audited and the results are made public in an annual report.

AAMI removed 'Duty of Disclosure', which requires customers to know and disclose to the insurer possible risks about their situation, even if they are unforeseen events – AAMI instead relies on customers' responses to specific questions (1996)

AAMI introduced its online quoting and purchase process for new and renewed car insurance policies (2001)

AAMI introduced its industry-leading repairer performance management system comprising AAMI Repair Code of Practice and the AAMI Accident Repair Standards (2001)

AAMI Flexi-Premiums™ (introduced 2004), which enables AAMI customers to choose the premium that suits them best – the higher the excess they choose, the bigger the discount on their annual premium, providing an upfront saving on their car insurance

AAMI Secure Contents (introduced 2005), whereby rewards customers who install non-standard home security features such as alarms and cameras, with a discount of up to 25 per cent off their premium

AAMI Fire and Theft Contents insurance (introduced 2006), also known as AAAMI ‘renters' insurance', this simple, affordable policy provides $25,000 home contents insurance cover against loss/damage due to fire or theft for a low, fixed premium ($100-$175)
