Does Home Insurance cover my mobile phone?

If you’ve just purchased a shiny new smartphone, chances are you’ll want more protection for it than the latest hard case can provide. Theft or accidental loss is not uncommon, and accidental or elemental damage can destroy your device, leaving you considerably out of pocket. It can be hard to know which type of mobile phone insurance is best to go with, or even if this item falls under your current Contents Insurance policy

However, if you do experience theft of your insured items, you’re required to file a theft report to the police within 48 hours of the event and you need to notify AAMI within 14 days. If either of those actions don’t take place, your insurance claim could be rendered invalid and the value of your insurance will be lost.
