1. Explore Rose Street Artist Market

Discover exciting up-and-coming artists and designers at this locally beloved creative hotspot. You’ll find unique gems, one-off wonders, limited-edition photographs and artworks, plus a host of vintage pieces, collectibles and tasty treats. Open every Saturday and Sunday from 11am to 5pm, it’s handmade heaven in Fitzroy. 

2. Glamp at St Jerome’s

When we think of glamping, remote safari suites spring to mind, but this unique set-up offers stylish comfort on a rooftop in the heart of the city. 3. Fill up at Prahran Market

Treat your tastebuds at Melbourne’s favourite gourmet market. You’ll find everything from organic pineapples to traditional homemade humus, artisan roasted coffee beans, freshly baked borek and delicious seafood. Our insider tip? Between 3 and 4pm on Sunday afternoons, you can fill a whole box with fresh produce for just $15.  

4. Visit the Yarra Valley

An hour north of Melbourne lies the stunning Yarra Valley, where you can tour tastings at world-class vineyards to your heart’s content. Get a whole new perspective by taking flight in a hot-air balloon at sunrise – an absolutely breathtaking sight. And treat yourself to something special by settling in for lunch at Zonzo Estate. Just be sure to book in early. 

5. Have a picnic in the park

Melbourne’s known for its plethora of pristine parks, which make for perfect picnic destinations. Pack your basket full of all your favourite foods – don’t forget comfy cushions and a blanket – and head off with family and friends. Your destination? We love the Royal Botanical Gardens, and if you’re after something a little more unique, head to the Heidelberg Museum Gardens & Sculpture Park. 

6. Discover Mount Martha

If beautiful beaches don’t spring to mind when you think of a visit to Melbourne, you’re in for a pleasant surprise. Situated on the Mornington Peninsula, scenic Mount Martha offers sandy beaches and colourful bathing boxes surrounded by rocky coves, spectacular cliffs and native bushland. Grab the kids and go for a swim or enjoy the walking trails in nearby Mount Martha Park. 

7. Watch a movie on the roof

Smack-bang in the middle of Melbourne, there’s a place to see all the hottest new movies in the magic of the great outdoors. You’ll find Rooftop Cinema in Swanston Street on top of historic Curtin House, and there’s Burger Shack and the full-service Rooftop Bar to keep you fed and watered. Enjoy your favourite films in a deck chair under the stars from December through to the end of April. 

8. Take a painting class

No trip to Melbourne is complete without indulging your artistic side. Play with paint with a glass of your favourite wine in hand at Cork & Chroma. Enjoy a creative night out in a relaxed studio setting – and don’t stress about art supplies, as it’s all included in your booking. Worried about the wine selection? Don’t be. 9. Catch a show

Get your fill of arts, culture and comedy by going to see a gig at Melbourne’s beloved Butterfly Club. 10. Watch a game at the MCG
