How can I pay for my insurance policy?

To make your life easier, AAMI offers several flexible ways to pay for your insurance. This includes online with your debit or credit card, using BPAY, over the phone, and even at your nearest Australian Post Office. How do I pay for a renewal online?

When it’s time to renew, most of our policies can be paid for online through several convenient options. Discover all the ways you can renew your policy, according to the type of insurance you have.

Are there any policies I can’t renew online?

A few of our policies (Life Insurance, Accidental Injury and Income Protection) can’t be paid for using our online system. However, you can still make a payment easily by direct debit or credit card.

For all other AAMI insurance products, you can renew your policy online via our Pay Your Policy page.

How do I update my payment details?

You can change your credit card and direct debit details online in your AAMI My Account.

Simply sign in to your My Account and find the policy you want to update, click on 'View my policy' from the pop-up menu, then select the 'Change payment details' tab.

Please note, this isn't available for CTP, MAI Insurance, or life insurance products.

What happens if I’ve missed a payment?

At AAMI, we know that sometimes in life not everything goes to plan. If you have missed a monthly instalment, you can easily make a one off payment via your AAMI My Account to catch up.

To make a one off payment, follow the below steps:

Log into My Account

Select the relevant policy from your policy list

On the policy overview, select “View Policy”

If you’re eligible to make a manual payment, click the “Pay now” button which will appear at the top of the Policy Summary screen. If you’re not able to make a payment the box will not appear.

You will be able check and update your direct debit or card details with us following your successful payment. You can also update your payment details when you log into My account at any time, accessible via the Policy Summary screen.

If a monthly instalment is overdue we will let you know. We can cancel your policy by giving you at least 14 days advance notice, but if a monthly instalment is overdue by a month, we can cancel your policy without advance notice.

If you’d like to apply for a payment extension, please get in touch with us by calling 13 22 44 as soon as possible. It’s important to note that payment extensions cannot be granted for greater than 14 days after the due date of your renewal, which is why you must get in touch ASAP. This won’t change the terms and premium of your policy.

We can't put insurance policies on hold. However, if you're experiencing financial hardship because of COVID-19, there are some ways we may be able to help. Please call 13 22 44 to discuss your options with us, visit our COVID-19 information page or click the chat icon to speak to someone online.

If you’re an AAMI Health Insurance customer experiencing financial hardship due to COVID-19, you may be eligible to suspend your policy.

If your policy has very recently expired, you may still be able to renew it online – check to see if you can still pay for it! Just be aware that you won't be covered if your policy has expired.

You also won’t be able to make any updates to your details if your policy has expired, however, you will be able to make changes online after the policy has been renewed.

You can save money by paying your AAMI insurance premiums annually. Monthly instalments may give you flexibility, but you pay less overall when you pay in one annual lump sum. Obviously, this isn’t an option for everyone.

You can schedule your renewal payment through your bank via BPAY. Use the biller code 655902, Payment Reference Number (PRN) and the renewal amount.

Yes you can! Pay with your bank account using the biller code 655902 and your Payment Reference Number (PRN).

BPAY payments can take a few days to process.

You just have to log in to My Account. Click on ‘View my policy’ and you’ll see an option to ‘Get documents’.

You can download the Certificate of Insurance document which includes details about your cover. You can also download your Tax Invoice which shows what you paid.

You can download your Tax Invoice and send it to your email address.

If you’ve just paid your renewal, you’ll need to wait 48 hours before your Tax Invoice will be available to download.
