AAMI SmartPlates - Your digital log book app

Raising a safer generation of drivers

For over 40 years, we’ve strived to give Australians peace of mind in every aspect of their life. Now we’ve developed AAMI SmartPlates to ensure Australia’s young drivers – your children, nieces, nephews – have the modern tools they need to become smarter and more responsible drivers of the future.

A smarter way to learn to drive

AAMI SmartPlates completely reinvents the way young drivers learn to drive by transforming the old Learner log book into a real-time driving tracker and coach for their smartphone. It’s the digital overhaul that’s been due for years.

Tracks every detail of every drive

When Learners start a session AAMI SmartPlates automatically tracks their practice hours, route choice, weather, road type and traffic conditions in real-time so they can find out where they’re getting experience and where they need work.

Updates the dated log book

Leave the log book at home and kick-start a driving lesson with your Learner whenever you want. The app logs every driving session automatically and organises them into a printable PDF at the end of their hours.

Motivates them to master it all

AAMI SmartPlates encourages Learners to gain driving practice in all conditions, not just the easy ones. For example, Coach knows when rain is forecast and encourages them to take care and hit the road for wet weather hours.

Teaches them new skills every session

Key driving skills are displayed every time Learners start driving - drilling in those important basics when they’re needed most.

Blocks bad habits for life

The powerful Road Block feature turns on whenever a Learner starts a session. On Android, Road Block automatically silences incoming calls and sends callers a text telling them the Learner will reply when they’ve stopped – ending the urge to text and drive before it becomes habit.

If phone use is detected on iPhone, Learners receive a tailored message discouraging them from dangerous distractions next time they drive.

Monitor their road to ready together

The more people watching a Learner’s progress the more it can be improved. Parents and supervisors who are AAMI customers can monitor their Learner’s road to solo driving on the AAMI website and pinpoint areas for improvement.  Log in to AAMI online to find out how.

Harnesses the power of their peers

A teenager’s social circle is a powerful influence. AAMI SmartPlates harnesses this insight by encouraging Learners to compete against each other for maximum practice hours on a live leaderboard. The more practice, the more bragging rights.
