We’re changing what we ask about your property
Learn how Home & Contents Insurance and Landlord Insurance policies are affected
We’re using more information we’ve sourced from third parties. This means:
- if you’re buying a new policy, we won’t ask you as many questions about your property as we used to, and
- if you’re renewing an existing policy, there will be fewer details for you to check on your Certificate.
You’ll see this change in policies commencing on or after 13 May 2022 or renewed on or after 23 June 2022.
We still cover your home or property at the insured address up to your selected sum insured. This includes things like decks, fixed swimming pools, sheds, tennis courts, and fixed water tanks (even though they won’t appear on your Certificate of Insurance). Please refer to your PDS for full details of your cover.
You still need to make sure your cover is right for you, including your sum insured. Refer to the FAQs below to learn more about keeping your sum insured up to date.

We ask you to select your sum insured from a range we provide. Your sum insured can be updated online or phoning us.
We usually increase your sum insured at renewal to account for the increased annual cost of rebuilding. If you’re unsure whether the amount is correct or whether your sum insured is suitable for your situation, refer to the above FAQ “How do I select the most appropriate building sum insured?” for suggestions.
We collect information from you, publicly available sources, and from suppliers when we’re required to learn details about your property.
Our suppliers take aerial images of Australian homes and then use artificial intelligence to identify building attributes, such as pools or tennis courts. Similar aerial information – also known as geospatial data – is commonly used for things like Google maps GPS tracking, storm warnings, and weather maps.
