AAMI Driving Test Competition FAQs

The AAMI Driving Test is a national competition that rewards safe drivers with an opportunity to win a share in over $90,000 in prizes. By using the AAMI App, setting up AAMI Driver Rewards, answering a few questions about you and recording a drive, eligible Aussies can earn a Driver Score. If your Driver Score is 95 or above on set dates, and you meet the competition eligibility requirements, you’ll go into monthly and major prize draws.

Number Score

Your overall score, out of 100, is presented on the home screen. This is the key measurement of your driving performance, based on data from your trips over the past two weeks. The App compares your performance to the typical driver population, both within Australia and internationally, for each sub score. Sub scores are for behaviour categories, like hard braking or speeding, and those sub scores are weighed together to produce an overall score.

Star Rating

The star ratings are granted for each individual trip and can be viewed on the trips screen. They provide an idea of what happened on each trip. For a given trip, you can lose stars for any risky events that occur, such as phone use, hard braking, speeding, hard acceleration, and hard cornering.

Monthly Prizes (115 total over 5 months):

• 15 × $1,000 Pre-paid Mastercards
• 50 × $500 Ampol fuel vouchers
• 50 × Double movie passes (Event or Village Cinemas)

Major Prizes (5 total), each prize includes:

• Return economy flights for 2 to one of 3 destinations (Melbourne, Sydney or Noosa)
• 5-night stay at a 4+ star hotel
• Premium hire car (or extra spending money if under 21)
• $150 fuel voucher
• $2,000 prepaid Mastercard for spending money

To qualify, you must reach a Driver Score of 95 or more as recorded at 11:59PM on the Score Reading Date as listed in the Terms and Conditions, during the competition period.

If you qualify for any monthly prize draw, you'll also go into the major prize draw.

Yes! Each qualifying month gives you a new chance to win. If you qualify, you can go into the draw to win monthly prizes and receive one entry to go into the draw to win the major prize.

AAMI Driver Rewards requires you to enable all location, motion and Bluetooth services. If you noticed your trips aren’t recording, please find the AAMI App in your phone settings and set permissions to 'Always Allow'.

No. You must consent to receive AAMI brand marketing communications and remain opted-in during the entire Entry Period. If you opt out early, you’ll be removed from the competition.

To be eligible, you must:

• Be an Australian resident aged 18 years or over
• Hold a valid Australian drivers licence
• Download the AAMI App and set up AAMI Driver Rewards
• Opt in to receive AAMI marketing communications (and not opt out during the Entry Period)
• Complete the entry questions and accept the competition Terms and Conditions

After registering for AAMI Driver Rewards and completing the AAMI Driving Test questions, you will see a screen in the App that says it’s time to buckle up.

Throughout the Entry Period, when you go back into the AAMI Driver Rewards section of the App, you will then see a new tile below your driver score and last trip details – saying ‘AAMI Driving Test. See how the competition is stacking up'.

No, you don't need to hold an AAMI policy to participate, just meet the eligibility criteria and set up AAMI Driver Rewards via the AAMI App.

We collect and use information about your accelerating, braking, cornering, phone distraction, and speed using telematics technology (which includes use of location information) to calculate your driver score, let you know how you’re tracking across these driving behaviours plus determine your eligibility for the monthly and major prize draws.

This information may also be used for product and service research and development; and contribute to AAMI Driving Test findings nationally and feed into our marketing communications.

We do not use this data to make any decisions about an insurance policy you hold with us or any claims you may make. See Terms and Conditions for more information.
