What is CTP?
CTP is insurance attached to the registration of your vehicle, which provides protection to the at fault driver, against compensation claims from people injured in a motor vehicle accident. In ACT, CTP is purchased when you register your car and is included in your total registration fee paid to the Road Transport Authority (RTA).

Your CTP insurance covers you for injuries you cause to other people in a Motor Vehicle accident.
Injuries to road users including other drivers, passengers, pedestrians, cyclists, motorbike riders and pillion passengers.
CTP provides limited cover for injuries sustained by the driver who causes a motor accident. Click here for more details.

Compulsory Third Party (CTP) Personal Injury insurance is compulsory when registering a motor vehicle in ACT. You are not covered for CTP if your car is not registered. You may be personally liable for any injuries you cause in a motor vehicle accident if it is driven whilst not registered and without CTP cover.
