BUILDING ITEMS
Other repair/rebuilding costs
COVERED
There are certain miscellaneous costs associated with repairs or rebuilding that can go beyond nails and timber. Here is more information on the coverage for other repairs/rebuilding costs under AAMI Home Building Insurance.
What's covered
When you are covered for the costs of rebuilding or repairing damaged parts of the building, we will pay the reasonable and necessary costs for:
- the services of professionals such as architects or surveyors;
- temporary work required to make your damaged building safe; and
- ensuring the damaged parts of your building comply with current building regulations and laws. Limits and conditions apply.
Know that the most we will pay for any one incident is up to 10% of the building sum insured, unless your certificate of insurance shows that you have the Complete Replacement Cover® option, in which case we pay the reasonable and necessary costs.
What’s not covered
There are some instances where you will not be covered. For instance, we do not cover the costs of removing or lopping trees or branches that have not damaged the home. We also do not cover the costs of making the building or any sheds/outbuildings comply with building regulations and laws or fire safety regulations if, at the time they were originally built or when construction, repairs, renovations or alterations were undertaken:
- they did not comply with council requirements, and/or
- the required permits were not in place.
There are other exclusions to this coverage, which you can learn more about in the Product Disclosure Statement.
