What am I covered for?
What’s covered by Third Party Car Insurance?
Third Party Property Damage Car Insurance covers damage you cause to other people's vehicles and property while behind the wheel. It's different from Compulsory Third Party Insurance (such as 'CTP' in SA or 'Green Slip' in NSW), which just covers costs related to injuries caused in a motor vehicle accident for which you're liable. Frequently asked questions
Third Party Car Insurance cover protects you from the costs of damage your car causes to someone else's car or property, but the costs won't cover your wheels if they're damaged in an accident.
On the other hand, Compulsory Third Party Insurance is a mandatory cover attached to the registration of your vehicle and provides protection to the at-fault driver against compensation claims from people injured in a motor vehicle accident.
Your coverage amount will depend on your circumstances, such as what car you're driving and more. You can check your amount covered, including your excess, in your policy online.
