Vote for your Community Choice Club

We have had so many great entries into our Clangers for Good program this season, we have decided to award an additional winner, and need your help to decide. We have selected four deserving local footy clubs to be in the running to be the 2023 Community Choice Club.

The winning club will receive $10,000 to help develop their women’s program. Vote for your favourite club below.

Sawtell Toormina Saints Football Club, NSW

The Sawtell Toormina Saints is a family orientated club with a focus on skill development, good sportsmanship and a strong club culture. The club aims to provide a welcoming environment for their women’s teams and propose to use the funding from the Clangers for Good program to improve their changerooms for female players. Funding would cover the costs to instal fixtures and fittings that would make the changerooms better suited for women including mirrors, shelving, lockers, hooks for towels etc.

Rye Sorrento Waves Football Club, Victoria

Rye Sorrento Waves is an all girls football club based on the Mornington Peninsula. Their football program is designed to foster a love of the game of football in an environment that is safe and supportive. Currently the female teams do not have a dedicated training location and share ovals with all the boys and men's Rye and Sorrento teams. The funding from Clangers for Good would enable the girls to access an alternate oval situated between Rye and Sorrento and ideally go towards installation of lights at this oval. This would enable a consistent training location for the girls and ensure ongoing access to open spaces to develop their game.

Morningside Junior Football Club, Queensland

Morningside AFL Club has been part of the Brisbane community for over 50 years and is one of the most widely recognised Queensland based AFL clubs in Australia. The club has a growing female program, with club members working tirelessly over the years to build and attract female players to the club. The club is always striving to level the playing field between male and female players and would use the funding to invest in strength and conditioning programs for the female players. This would include access to gym memberships for female players to build their fitness levels for the 2024 season. It is hoped that offering female players with tailored S&C programs will also help prevent injuries and improve their overall strength, stamina and endurance.

Willaston Football Club, South Australia

Willaston Football Club is a well established local football club in the heart of Willaston on the Wirral. The club has an inclusive approach to football and caters to football players of all ages, gender and abilities. The club has pledged to use the Clangers for Good funding for equipping its female teams with tailored uniforms that are designed to suit and fit female players. The club is committed to ensuring female players feel comfortable in their playing kit and understand it is critical for keeping girls engaged with the sport. Many female players at the club are teenagers and are at that vulnerable age where they are likely to drop out of playing sport altogether if they do not feel comfortable in what they are playing in.
