What is Extra Cover Portable valuables cover?

Extra Cover Portable valuables cover is available for an added premium as optional cover with AAMI Home Contents Insurance. It provides additional cover for items you're likely to take outside your home like your handbag or jewellery– anywhere in Australia and New Zealand. Jewellery and watches can be covered anywhere else in the world for up to 30 consecutive days whilst being worn by you or in a secure safe.

If you don’t choose to specify your portable items when you take our Extra Cover Portable valuables, we pay up to a maximum of $1,000 per item, pair, set or collection if there is loss or damage. However certain items - including your laptop and mobile phone - need to be specified on your policy to be covered away from home. You can also increase the limit for other portable items by specifying them. Insuring these items will increase your premiums, but they’ll be covered for accidental loss or damage at and away from your home.
