Loss or damage to your contents
If your contents are damaged by an insured event, the most we’ll pay for loss or damage to your contents for any one incident is the contents sum insured unless we say otherwise in your policy.

Theft or burglary
We offer cover if your contents are stolen or damaged after forced entry by a thief or burglar, or by someone who entered the property without your consent or the consent of someone you authorised.

‘New for old’ replacement
We repair or replace your contents with new items or new materials of the same type, standard, and specification as new (excluding brand). If the same isn't readily available from an Australian supplier, we repair or replace with items or materials of a similar type, standard, and specification.

Spoiled food and medication
If an insured event causes food or medicine to spoil – for example, if a storm knocks out power to your fridge and refrigerated food spoils – the most we will pay is $400.

Keys and keyless electronic starters for any vehicle aren’t covered, unless they’re for vehicles covered as contents – like mowers, mobility scooters and medical aids, or golf carts.

Unless you have AAMI's Extra Cover Portable valuables cover, contents are not covered away from home, except in specific circumstances detailed under additional cover ‘Contents temporarily removed’.

Extra Cover Portable valuables optional cover provides cover for accidental loss or damage to your valuable personal belongings anywhere in Australia and New Zealand. This means they are covered both at and away from the insured address.
