By  AAMI

Whether it’s a robbery, storm damage, fire, flood* or something else – an event that prompts a home insurance claim can be stressful.

That's why at AAMI, we try to make the claims process simple.

How to make an AAMI Home Insurance claim

What you’ll need before you claim:

  • Your AAMI Insurance policy number.

  • Police report details (if applicable).
  • Proof of value and ownership for contents items.

If you don’t have all of these on hand right away, don’t worry. Start your claim anyway and get the ball rolling; we’ll let you know if anything else is needed. Read the PDS for more information.

Being prepared for a home and contents insurance claim

It’s always a good idea to prep for a claim before you need to make one.

Creating a home and contents inventory is a great place to start. This way you’ll have all your belongings accounted for, so you’re not left scrambling at claims time. Your inventory is also a helpful way to gauge whether you have the right sum insured to cover your belongings in an insured event.

AAMI Home and Contents Insurance can cover certain specified items under its ‘Extra Cover Portable Valuables Specified Items Cover – for an added premium. If we agree to cover an item, it’ll be covered up to the full specified value listed on your certificate of insurance. So, if you have expensive watches or jewellery that you wear away from home, you may want to consider this optional cover.
